Joe Thornton Has Been Suspended For Game 4 For His Hit On Tomas Nosek
San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton has been suspended for Game 4 for his hit on Tomas Nosek during Game 3 of the Sharks series with the Golden Knights. I think everybody knew a suspension was coming. It seems now a days if there is any contact to the head you should expect at the very least to have a meeting with the Department of Player Safety. I thought the hit was worthy of a suspension, I don’t think there was any malice behind it and I don’t think Jumbo meant to do it, but it definitely didn’t look good.
Thornton obviously isn’t the player he used to be but the Sharks will still miss the 39-year-old forward for the one game he is out. Through 3 games this playoffs, Thornton has a goal and two assists and through 73 games during the regular season, he had 51 points (16g, 35a).
I’d say the worst part of Thornton getting suspended is we won’t be able to see him and Ryan Reaves go at it. The two have been making jabs at each other in the media the past two days and I’ll bet anything they have words for each other they next time they are both on the ice.
